Depending on the size you choose for your Shepherds Hut, you will get the option of choosing a design for your size, whether that is with a single or double door in the end or the length of the building, and different window locations.
There are 4 designs to choose from, to help match the best fit for your garden layout:
The Texel - a single door and window in the gable with windows in the side
The Swaledale - a single door in the side, with windows in the side and gable
The Suffolk - a single door in the gable, with windows in the side and rear gable
The Herdwick - double doors and windows in the side, with a window set in the gable
Our Shepherds Huts are available in one of two paint colour ranges: Exterior or Farrow & Ball. Both of these paint ranges offer an opaque finish with a long re-decoration cycle in a wide range of natural colours that will fit perfectly into garden environments. Please see below for information on both paint ranges.
High quality exterior paint.
Weather resistant and protective.
Fully opaque 2 coat system.
Inspired by nature and the soft neutral tones of traditional colonial buildings.
Farrow & Ball
High quality exterior paint.
Water resistant and anti-fungal.
Rich, fully opaque colour.
Specially selected colours from the Farrow & Ball paint collection.
Our Shepherds Hut has a classically curved roof, and comes with a choice of either galvanised corrugated steel or black corrugated steel to sit on top of the roof of this rustic building.
Lining & Insulation
All our Shepherds Huts are fully lined and insulated (walls, ceiling and floor). This allows you to use your new building all through the year, it also increases comfort and decreases noise levels, as well as finishing the building in a beautiful manner.
For the roof we have a 4 tier lining and insulation process; we insulate between the ply layer and the internal matchboard tongue and groove lining. For the walls, we insulate your building by trapping a breathable paper membrane between the studwork, which acts as a moisture trap before filling in with insulation.
There are then 2 options for lining your Shepherds Hut: natural matchboarding, or painted matchboarding. To have the walls (and ceiling) painted, you can choose our own Ivory internal paint colour, or choose from a range of Farrow & Ball paint colours.
Inside our Shepherds Huts you will have natural matchboard lining included as standard, but you can upgrade to painted in either our interior Ivory or in a choice of 8 Farrow & Ball colours.
The Farrow & Ball colours have all been specially chosen to contrast pleasingly with our external paint colours, and will allow you the flexibility to choose a neutral colour, or a shade with a bit more colour to it to really bring the inside of your building alive.
These colours become particularly special when they are paired with one of our four engineered flooring types.
Our standard (ex 19mm thick) and robust floorboards are set on closely spaced tanalised floor joists.
You can also choose to have either a lacquered finish on your floor, or you can add engineered flooring.
Having a lacquered floor is an additional option that can be chosen with our Shepherds Huts. The lacquer is applied to the floorboards in either Natural or Light Oak to help protect the timber, as well as giving it a nice sheen.
This option can be chosen as an alternative to a lacquered floor. There are four different colours to choose from, and the engineered flooring offers a chance to further personalise your new garden building, whether you’re aiming for a traditional, rustic or contemporary style.
Our engineered floorboards sit on top of the existing floorboards, with a layer of underlay in between the two, providing further insulating and sound absorbing benefits.
For lighting and using any equipment in your building, you may wish to consider our electric pack to enable you to use your Shepherds Hut all year-round.
Professionally fitted by qualified electricians who take all the wiring to a consumer unit ready for you to connect to your electricity supply. Internal wiring will be fitted behind the internal lining. We can also supply your building with a heater.
All our buildings require a level, solid concrete base of the correct size.
The single most important part of installing a garden building is the base. Bases must be:
Level within a 6mm tolerance to ensure the longevity of your building
Of the correct size (please follow the base plan we send you)
We constantly strive to ensure all our materials and techniques are the best that we can source and provide. We lead the market in producing exceptional quality timber buildings. Couple this with our personal and tailored service, and you will be completely delighted with your building.
