The Holt is a modern, sleek building that can be used as a relaxing garden room, a garden office, or for a combination of uses.
With an attractive roof overhang and veranda, it can fit wonderfully in a corner, or it can become a true focal point for outdoor living. The Holt has full insulation and double glazing, making it perfect for year-round use.

We want you to be inspired to create your own Studio, which is why you can click on the Create My Studio tab and begin your journey to your own tailor-made garden building.
Building Design
Our Holt Studios are available in 12 standard sizes, but you can make your studio bigger with the option to add either a 1.8m, 2.4m or a 3.0m veranda to the side. This results in the sizes ranging from:
3.0 x 3.0m - 4.6 x 9.0m
You can choose whether you would like a left-hand or right-hand corner design to best suit your garden.
Please note that the sizes provided are the overall footprint of the building. Due to the choice of having up to a 3.0m veranda on the side of your building, we have highlighted when we are referring to the building size or the overall size.

Veranda options
Depending on the size of building you choose, you will get either a 0.6m, 0.8m or 1.0m veranda included as standard to the front and side of your Holt.
You will also be given the option of upgrading to a 1.8m, 2.4m, or 3.0m veranda to the side. Depending on what size space you have available, this means you can have a veranda that is just big enough for a few pot plants to add to the aesthetic of your building, or you can have a larger space to fit a comfortable sofa, a dining set or even a hot tub for the ultimate relaxation space.

Door & Window Options
Within our workshops, we house our own Joinery Works where we make the doors and windows for our Studios.
Doors
Our doors are constructed from hemlock, which is a timber particularly suitable for doors, as apart from being durable, it is far less susceptible to movement and warping than other timbers traditionally used for doors.
Our Holt Studio double doors use floor-to-ceiling glass and are double glazed using toughened safety glass. They are then finished with either polished brass or chrome fittings, a 5 lever mortise lock and draught excluders.
Windows
The Holt comes with two fully glazed sides to allow for maximum light and an ultra-contemporary feel.
In the back wall of the Holt there will be at least one opening fanlight for ventilation (depending on the size), and all the windows are double glazed using toughened safety glass. The fanlights have either polished brass or chrome, lockable window fittings for added security, and are fitted with draught excluders.
Paint Options
Our Garden Studios are available in one of two paint colour ranges: Exterior or Farrow & Ball. Both of these paint ranges offer an opaque finish with a long re-decoration cycle in a wide range of natural colours that will fit perfectly into garden environments. Please see below for information on both paint ranges.

Roofing Options
Our Holt comes with a choice of roof covering. Heavy duty felt is the standard option, and you have the choice of upgrading to EPDM rubber roofing.
Heavy Duty Felt
This is our standard roofing material: it is an extreme wear, heavy duty, 35kg green mineralised felt that is a non-rip material and is applied with a propane torch to increase its longevity.
EPDM Roofing
For further durability, you can upgrade to our EPDM rubber roofing. EPDM is a rubber-based roof covering that is glued to the roof, and is manufactured in one piece, meaning there will be no joins, highly reducing the risk of leakage.
Cheek Colour
The Cheeks of this Studio are marked out in this diagram - they are the exterior walls that connect the roof overhang to the veranda of the Holt, and help to frame it. They are an important part of the design, and we have decided to call them "Cheeks".
The Cheeks will be painted in the same colour as the exterior of your Holt as standard; however, you can also choose a second exterior colour to offer a pleasing contrast between the outside and inside of the building.
Lining and Insulation
All our Studios and Offices are fully lined and insulated (walls, ceiling and floor). This allows you to use your new building all through the year, it also increases comfort and decreases noise levels, as well as finishing the building in a beautiful manner.
Insulation
For the roof we have a 4 tier lining and insulation process; we insulate between the ply layer and the internal matchboard tongue and groove lining, and finish the building with our heavy duty felt on the roof. For the walls, we insulate your building by trapping a breathable paper membrane between the studwork, which acts as a moisture trap before filling in with insulation.
There are then 2 options for lining your Studio: natural matchboarding, or painted matchboarding. To have the walls (and ceiling) painted, you can choose our own Ivory internal paint colour, or choose from a range of Farrow & Ball paint colours.
Natural Matchboard Lining
We can line with our highest grade tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) offering a natural, warm feel.
Painted Matchboard Lining
We use a channelled, secret-nailed, tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) with 3 coats of Ivory or Farrow & Ball paint, which achieves a bright, clean and airy look.
Year-round Use
The insulation in the walls, floor and ceiling, along with the matchboard lining and double glazing will allow you to use your building in comfort all through the year.
Interior Colours
Each interior is finished with natural matchboard lining as standard. For a more personalised look, you can choose to upgrade to a painted finish, available in our soft interior Ivory or a selection of seven carefully chosen Farrow & Ball colours.
These shades have been selected to complement our exterior paint options, giving you the flexibility to opt for a calm neutral or a richer tone to add personality to your space.
The overall look is enhanced when combined with one of our four engineered flooring choices, creating a cohesive and inviting interior.

Slipper Satin | Lime White
Shadow White | Ammonite
Purbeck Stone | Elephant's Breath
Flooring Options
When choosing the internal options for your new Holt Studio, you have the following flooring options:
Lacquered Floor
Having a lacquered floor is an additional option that can be chosen with our Studios. The lacquer is applied to the floorboards in either Natural or Light Oak to help protect the timber, as well as giving it a nice sheen.
Engineered Flooring
This option can be chosen as an alternative to a lacquered floor. There are four different colours to choose from, and the engineered flooring offers a chance to further personalise your new garden building, whether you’re aiming for a traditional, rustic or contemporary style.
Our engineered floorboards sit on top of the existing floorboards, with a layer of underlay in between the two, providing further insulating and sound absorbing benefits.

Electric Pack
For lighting and using any equipment in your building, you may wish to consider our electric pack to enable you to use your Studio all year-round.
Professionally fitted by qualified electricians who take all the wiring to a consumer unit ready for you to connect to your electricity supply. Internal wiring will be fitted behind the internal lining. We can also supply your building with a heater.
4 double 13 amp switched sockets
A gang light switch
A waterproof double external 13 amp socket
An 8 way consumer unit: the main switch takes 2 slots - 63 amp MCB - 16 amp and 6 amp blanks
LED Spotlights are inserted into the ceiling of the Holt Studio.
A Thermostatic 2kva wall heater with a digital display (this is optional)
Guttering
Guttering collects the water run-off from the roof and then deposits the water away from the building. This stops the bottom boards rotting prematurely, adding an even longer life to your building. Guttering is available in black or white.
We add the guttering and downpipe along the lowest side/eave of the roof. The addition of guttering also allows you to install a water butt.
Base Options
All our buildings require a level, solid base of the correct size.
The single most important part of installing a garden building is the base. Bases must be:
Level within a 6mm tolerance to ensure the longevity of your building
Of the correct size (please follow the base plan we send you)
Square i.e. have right angled corners
A solid base supports your building in the best possible way, adding longevity, as well as creating a substantial distance between your building and surface water.
Our professionals can supply a concrete or steel base ready for your building in advance of installation. Whether we install the base ourselves or you get a trusted builder to do it for you, the base must be made to the plans we give you when you order your building.
The base you have must be made to the plans we give you when you order your building, whether we install the base, or you get a trusted builder to do it for you.
Please note: If you intend to fully or partially surround the building base with hard paving we strongly suggest the installation of a French drain between the paving and base to prevent rain bouncing off the hard surface and driving up under the building, which in turn could cause damp and rot. A French drain is a simple small trench, dug around your building and filled with aggregate that will allow surface water to drain away.
Always get your garden building base laid by a professional, whether that is us, or a local builder you trust.
