Design your Garden Room
Whether you are looking for a hobby room, an office, a craft room, an entertainment space, a gym, or simply somewhere to relax and enjoy your garden from, our luxury Garden Rooms are built to use for your comfort all through the year, with full insulation and electrics included.
As each building is hand-crafted to order in our factory in Norfolk, the design of your new Garden Room can be tailored to suit your tastes, with different roof coverings, cladding options, window styles, paint colours for both the exterior and interior, and a host of other options. You can really make it your own by adding a partition (or several) and extra doors and windows, the choice is all yours.
We want you to be inspired to create your own Garden Room, which you can do by clicking the Create My Garden Room tab, to create the Garden Room you have been dreaming of.

Our Garden Rooms are available in one of two paint colour ranges: Exterior or Farrow & Ball. Both of these paint ranges offer an opaque finish with a long re-decoration cycle in a wide range of natural colours that will fit perfectly into garden environments. Please see below for information on both paint ranges.

Lining & Insulation
All our Garden Rooms are fully lined and insulated (walls, ceiling and floor) as standard. This allows you to use your new building all through the year, it also increases comfort and decreases noise levels, as well as finishes the building in a beautiful manner.
Insulation
For the roof we have a 4 tier lining and insulation process; we insulate between the ply layer and the internal matchboard tongue and groove lining and finish the building with your choice of roofing material. For the walls, we insulate your building by trapping a breathable paper membrane between the studwork, which acts as a moisture trap before filling in with insulation.
There are then 2 options for lining your Garden Room. You can have natural matchboarding, or you can opt for painted lining, which is also included. To have it painted, you choose our own Ivory internal paint colour, or choose between 8 Farrow & Ball paint colours.

NATURAL MATCHBOARD LINING
We can line with our highest grade tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) offering a natural, warm feel.

PAINTED MATCHBOARD LINING
We use a channelled, secret-nailed, tongue and groove matchboarding (15mm) with 3 coats of paint in Ivory or Farrow & Ball paint, which achieves a bright, clean and airy look.

YEAR-ROUND USE
The insulation in the walls, floor and ceiling, along with the matchboard lining and double glazing will allow you to use your building in comfort all through the year.
Interior Colours
Inside our Garden Rooms, you have the option of natural or painted matchboard lining, either in our interior Ivory or in a choice of 8 Farrow & Ball colours.
The Farrow & Ball colours have all been specially chosen to contrast pleasingly with our external paint colours, and will allow you the flexibility to choose a neutral colour, or a shade with a bit more colour to it to really bring the inside of your studio alive.
These colours become particularly special when they are paired with one of our four engineered flooring types.

Pointing | Slipper Satin

Ammonite | Elephant's Breath

Shadow White | Old White

Purbeck Stone | Manor House Gray
Wall & Ceiling Colour Combinations
As well as choosing a paint colour from our selection of interior colours for the walls, you can also choose to have your ceiling painted. You can choose the same colour for the ceiling as the walls, or if you would like to add an extra splash of colour, you can choose a separate, contrasting colour.
These are our favourite Farrow & Ball colour combinations for our Garden Rooms:
Neutral = Walls - Shadow White + Ceiling - Pointing. Engineered flooring suggestions - Shade Oak, Heritage Oak, Dark Oak.
Warm Neutral = Walls - Old White + Ceiling - Pointing or Slipper Satin (depending on the level of contrast you want). Engineered flooring suggestions - Shade Oak or Dark Oak.
Warm Grey = Walls - Elephant's Breath + Ceiling - Slipper Satin. Engineered flooring suggestions - Shade Oak or Heritage Oak.

Flooring Options
Our standard (ex 19mm thick) and robust floorboards are set on closely spaced tanalised floor joists, but we can also offer heavy duty (ex 38mm thick) flooring if you are planning on storing particularly heavy items or if there's going to be a lot of movement inside your new Garden Building.
As well as choosing between floorboard thickness, you can also choose to have either a lacquered finish on your floor, or you can add engineered flooring for an alternative look.
Lacquered Floor
Having a lacquered floor is included in the price of our Garden Rooms. The lacquer is applied to the floorboards in either Natural or Light Oak to help protect the timber, as well as giving it a nice sheen.
Engineered Flooring
This option is also included in the price of our Garden Rooms and can be chosen as an alternative to a lacquered floor. There are four different colours to choose from, and the engineered flooring offers a chance to further personalise your new garden building, whether you’re aiming for a traditional, rustic or contemporary style.
Our engineered floorboards sit on top of the existing floorboards, with a layer of underlay in between the two, providing further insulating and sound-absorbing benefits.

Base
All our buildings require a level, solid concrete base of the correct size.
The single most important part of installing a garden building is the base. Bases must be:
- Level within a 6mm tolerance to ensure the longevity of your building
- Of the correct size (please follow the base plan we send you)
- Square i.e. have right angled corners
A concrete base supports your building in the best possible way, adding longevity, as well as creating a substantial distance between your building and surface water.
We can supply a 100mm deep reinforced concrete base ready for your building, laid by our professionals, in advance of your building being installed by us. The site must be clear and level within 100mm for us to do this.
The base should always be a minimum of 50mm out of the ground to prevent surface water or puddles affecting your building i.e. rotting it.
The base you have must be made to the plans we give you when you order your building, whether we install the base, or you get a trusted builder to do it for you.
Bases for larger buildings, and in particular garages, need to be built to exact dimensions - we create special base drawings for our garages, since they sit directly on the concrete base and must be anchored into place.
Please note: If you intend to fully or partially surround the building base with hard paving we strongly suggest the installation of a French drain between the paving and base to prevent rain bouncing off the hard surface and driving up under the building, which in turn could cause damp and rot. A French drain is a simple small trench, dug around your building and filled with aggregate that will allow surface water to drain away.
Always get your garden building base laid by a professional, whether that is us, or a local builder you trust.
We constantly strive to ensure all our materials and techniques are the best that we can source and provide. We lead the market in producing exceptional quality timber buildings. Couple this with our personal and bespoke service and you will be totally delighted with your building.
Height - 2.1m to eave height. If you need to restrict the height of your building to 2.5m, please contact us directly and we will be able to help.
Construction - ex 19mm x 125mm shiplap or weatherboard cladding on ex 38 x 75mm planed framework, all using high grade Scandinavian redwood. The walls are lined with a breathable paper membrane and insulated before being internally clad with ex 19mm vertical tongue and groove matchboarding with a choice of a painted or a natural finish.
Roof - ex 19 x 125mm tongue and groove matchboarding on solid timber rafters, fully insulated and finished in Cedar Shingles or Slate Effect tiles.
Doors - 1 pair of joinery-made double doors 1830mm high x 1380mm wide, ¾ glazed including double glazing with 4mm toughened safety glass, finished in a range of styles, fitted with a 5 lever mortise lock and polished brass or chrome fittings. Set on ex 75 x 75mm planed door frame.
Windows - 4 double sets of opening windows that are double glazed and fitted with 4mm toughened safety glass, finished in a choice of styles and furnished with polished brass or chrome furniture using joinery-made frames.

The floorboards are insulated underneath and also treated with a lacquer to protect and finish them (available in light oak or natural). Engineered flooring is also an option (please see the Options tab for more information).
Paint - Externally, you can choose between two paint systems: Exterior or Farrow & Ball. Both paint systems offer an opaque coverage and have long re-decoration cycles with a wide range of natural colours to choose from. For more information, please see the Paint Ranges section on the Options tab.
