Our friendly team on the ground at our Burford show site have informed us of some exciting events that are happening at the Burford Garden Company, home of our show site, next week.
The 28th of October sees the official launch of the garden centre’s reading room, which is a dedicated space where you can browse the books that are available to buy. To mark the launch, they have a week-long celebration planned with daily events and special guests.
There will be poetry reading with Barbara McNaught and book talks with author and stylist Selina Lake, pen making and silhouette portraits classes, and even handwriting and scrabble competitions. There will also be demonstrations throughout the week from Oxford Scribes members who will be showcasing their calligraphy skills.
The week of 28th October to the 2nd November is also half term week meaning there will also be lost of activities and events lined up for your little ones at the Little Burford children’s store. There will be readings from children’s authors Phillip Avery and Jackie Holderness, and arts and crafts in Jessie’s Art Shed.
They will also be able to get into the mood for Halloween with pumpkin carving, face painting and a spooky themed tea party while bonfire night will be celebrated with toffee apple making.
