Crane at the RHS Sandringham Flower Show 2026

We are proud to be part of The Gathering, a thought-provoking show garden making its debut at the inaugural RHS Sandringham Flower Show.

Designed by chartered landscape architect Sophie Godber of Spacecraft Garden Design and sponsored by Mindful Chef, The Gathering reimagines the traditional orchard for a modern domestic garden. Its message is both simple and timely: our gardens can do more than simply look beautiful. They can help restore biodiversity, support local food production and bring communities together. 

Inspired by the estimated 90% loss of traditional orchards in England and Wales since the 1950s, the garden demonstrates how even modest outdoor spaces can contribute to nature recovery. Fruiting and nut trees sit alongside edible planting, wildlife-friendly habitats, a natural pond and innovative nesting features, creating a thriving ecosystem designed with sustainability at its heart. 

Located alongside the garden is a National Trust Ickworth Summerhouse by Crane, providing a welcoming space for visitors to meet the Mindful Chef team and discover more about the ideas behind the garden. Handcrafted in Norfolk, the Ickworth complements the garden's emphasis on natural materials, thoughtful design and creating spaces that encourage people to spend more time enjoying their gardens. 

The story doesn't end when the show closes. As part of its legacy, The Gathering will be relocated to Litton Primary School in Derbyshire, where it will become part of the school's Forest School nursery, continuing to inspire future generations to connect with nature and sustainable food growing.
