If you are looking for a summerhouse that will add style to your garden, consider our Thornham Summerhouse. It is different from our other summerhouses as it has a contemporary-style pent roof with an overhang, blended with traditional design features, including ¾ glazed doors and windows.
The Thornham is a simple unlined and unpainted building as standard, but this pent roof summerhouse can be customised with a range of design options to be used for a variety of purposes. The Thornham Summerhouse can be a space in your garden for you to retreat to in the summer months or a fully lined and insulated family room that can be enjoyed in every season. This pent summerhouse can also be tailored to become a garden office, a hobby room or a gym, or even an attractive alternative to more traditional garden shed and workshop designs.
To give you a true feel for the Thornham, we thought we would take you through its features and the customisation options to offer inspiration for your own garden building plans.
Tailored to your needs
Whether you have a small space that you would like to make the most of or are looking for a building to be a standout feature in your garden, the Thornham can be made in a wide range of sizes to suit different spaces. Depending on the size you choose, you will get 2 or 4 sets of windows, allowing plenty of natural light inside, which can be useful if you want to use this pent roof summerhouse as an arts and crafts room or workshop.
If you require both a living and storage space, you can add a partition to give you the separate spaces you require in one building.
Like all our garden buildings, the Thornham is hand-made to order so you can choose which design features you would like to reflect your personal style. Plain, Georgian or leaded windows can be chosen, and each offers a different look for the pent summerhouse. If you would like your summerhouse to have a rustic look, you can choose weatherboard cladding, or for more modern styling, opt for smooth shiplap.
Choosing whether you would like the Thornham painted or unpainted is another way of tailoring the design to your needs. This pent roof summerhouse comes treated with a light oak preservative, but if you fancy adding a splash of colour, you can opt to have it painted in your shade of choice from our Exterior Paint System or one of our specially selected Farrow & Ball colours. Soft greens and neutral shades will blend in with your garden while darker greys and blacks offer more of a statement. If you cannot decide on one colour, you can opt for a two-tone look with the doors and windows highlighted in a different shade.
Summer months or year-round use?
The Thornham Summerhouse comes unlined, making it a good option for storage or somewhere you can relax with a glass of wine and a good book in the summertime. Full insulation, lining and double glazing can be added, ensuring year-round comfort for a garden office, hobby room, or entertainment space.
Natural matchboard lining will give the summerhouse a warm feel, while painted lining, in either Ivory or one of 8 Farrow & Ball colours, offers a homely look. An electric pack and a heater can also be installed, adding further practicality for those wanting to spend long periods of time inside their summerhouse.
Flooring can alter the appearance of the Thornham and will also complement your lining choice. You can have a lacquer applied to the floor, which will protect the timber while also giving it a nice sheen, whereas one of our four engineered flooring shades can add character and style. A heavy duty floor would be a good option for the Thornham if you are wanting to use it as a gym and work out with heavy weights, or for storing large ride on pieces of machinery. The ex 38mm thick floorboards will help to support the weight of any particularly heavy items.
Whether you are looking for a pent or apex design, a modern summerhouse or a more traditional summer house design, we have plenty of buildings for you to choose from in our summerhouse collection.
