With a very large garden, the customer was spoilt of choice over where they wanted to place the building, but they finally decided on putting decking down on the gravel area round the back of their house. They’ve created a nice set-up with plants, chairs and a BBQ with the Burnham as the focal point.
This will make a great entertainment area for the customer when they have guests over; they can enjoy the sun by sitting out on the decking, and if the heavens open, if they want somewhere more comfortable to sit, or if it gets cold at the end of the day, this studio will be a great go-to spot.
At 3.6 x 4.8m in size, there will be plenty of room inside to have both a living area with squishy sofas and a dining area with a table and chairs for a bit of alfresco dining.
There are grey slate composite tiles on the roof and black guttering, Pebble paint from our exterior paint system on the weatherboard cladding, an electric pack, painted matchboard lining and insulation, and a natural lacquered floor.
The grey slate effect tiles are an effective weather-resistant material that will offer years of protection for the roof. Our exterior paint system, in the colour Pebble, gives an opaque coverage in a pale grey colour that looks very good matched with the slate effect tiles.

There are double doors in the middle with three windows on both sides of the doors, and two more on each gable end. This gives a whole wall of full-length glass to allow plenty of light inside the studio. There are also two fanlight windows on the back wall, and two Velux windows in the roof to allow for ventilation.
The painted matchboard lining involves using a channelled secret-nailed 15mm tongue and groove matchboarding, and the paint is cream to give the walls both light and inviting warmth. The lacquered floor is a natural coloured stain to give the floor a nice sheen that also protects the timber from wearing too much from too many footprints traipsing in and out all the time.
This studio will be perfect to use all year as well because it has insulation in the walls, ceiling and floor, the glass is double glazed and all the doors and windows have got draught excluders in them, so the building will be nice and cosy in the winter months, and cool in the summer.
