Here at Crane Garden Buildings, we strive for our business to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Environmental responsibility forms a big part of our business strategy, which is why we have recently had solar panels installed on the roof of our factory at our Norfolk HQ!
As you can imagine, crafting our buildings to order requires a lot of equipment, which in turn uses a lot of energy. With this in mind, we decided to install 324 solar panels on the roof. It is estimated that they will produce 95,971kWh of energy, which will produce an annual CO2 saving of 33,527 kg per year! Better still, they are built to last for 25 years so we can continue to use solar energy for many years to come.
It is not just our factory that will benefit, these solar panels will also produce energy to power our offices at our HQ too! In fact, during the summer months, they should produce 75% of the energy that our factory and offices use. They will also enable us to put back into the system too, as any unused energy produced will be put back into the National Grid.
These solar panels are another addition to the measures that we already have in place to reduce the impact our business has on the environment. We have an on-site biomass boiler, which uses our offcuts of timber to produce all the heat required for our factory and offices. We are also an FSC® certified company, which means that all the timber we use to make our buildings is traceable and grown in well-managed forests in a sustainable way.
