Sawmill & Picking Operative


The Role:


We have been manufacturing and selling high quality timber buildings for over 48 years. Our Garden Studios and Summerhouses are still designed and built by hand at our production factory in Narford. Due to the continued expansion of the business, we are looking for a staff to work in our Picking and Cutting area.


This role involves working at the start of the production process, picking materials for each order that comes into the factory and preparing them for the next stage in the process. It offers the opportunity to learn about the timber and other materials that are used in all of our products as well as offering the opportunity to be trained to use a variety of automated saws and power tools.


Experience and skills:


  • Open to learning new skills and processes
  • Confident using tablets and other smart devices
  • Exposure to working in a manufacturing environment
  • Competent at working with measurements and dimensions with a good eye for detail
  • Have a good personality and ability to be part of a growing team
  • Must be physically fit as you will be lifting heavy items
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Previous experience using crosscut or other types of automated Saw would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given
  • The ability to read basic CAD drawings would be an advantage but not essential.

Usual working week is 40 hours - Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday mornings during peak production period



Salary: £10.40 - £11 per hour
